Welcome to the Dundee Dolphins Swim Team
For the Spring\Summer 2010 season!
We are a year ‘round team home to both recreational and competitive swimmers from ages 6-18 that offers a program for all levels of swimmers. Our Philosophy is to teach and refine the 4 competitive strokes, moving the swimmers forward with their progress helping them advance towards their goals. We are an ISI team, home to Recreational and Competitive Swimmers.
Our Vision/Mission Statement is: To be committed to provide a positive environment, to challenge and develop our members to become exceptional young citizens, athletes, and swimmers; To create and maintain an enjoyable and productive swimming environment; To allow and assist every member to reach his or her desired level of swimming within their commitment; To recognize each member and value his or her role in the success of our team; To encourage family participation; To encourage positive mental attitude and mutual respect.
There are three different divisions of the Dundee Dolphins: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Evaluation is based on skill and time commitment determines which group\division you should register for**.
Divisions
Bronze Dolphins (previous Recreational & Progressive)
Ÿ New swimmer - unable to do all 4 competitive strokes properly for 25 yards & be evaluated by Dundee Dolphins Head Coach.
Ÿ Must have completed all levels of swim lessons &/or Jr. Dolphins.
Ÿ Concentration is 80% drill / stroke development work and 20% conditioning - average practice will be up to 1000 meters (40 laps).
Ÿ It is recommended that all swimmers try and attend meets. This group at the very least should swim in our home dual meets. It is a way for the coaches and the swimmers to mark improvement during the season.
Ÿ Every swimmer will be given individual goals during the season.
Silver Dolphins (previous advanced)
Ÿ Has properly swam a 200 yard/meter IM in a certified meet with ISI officials and/ or has been evaluated by the head coach.
Ÿ Concentration is 40% drill/stroke improvement and 60% conditioning-average practice is 3000 meters (120 laps (2 miles)).
Ÿ Will be expected to compete in invitational, conference and home dual meets.
Ÿ Goals will be given to each swimmer.
Ÿ They should strive to fill the requirements of the Gold group.
Gold Dolphins (previous Juniors and Seniors)
Ÿ 10 and older that have achieved multiple 12 and under regional championship times.
Ÿ Has properly competed in distances of 100 yards or more in all 4 competitive strokes.
Ÿ Has competed in large Invitational or Conference meets.
Ÿ Has properly competed in distance events of 200 yards or more.
Ÿ Concentration is 30% drill and 70% conditioning - average practice is 4000+ meters (160+ laps (2 ½ miles)) .
Ÿ Goals will be given to each swimmer. All Gold swimmers will be encouraged to swim either the 400 IM and or the 800/1000 free event.

Note: All Practices take place at the Indoor Pool
Fees
Fees will all be rolled into one main fee per swimmer. That fee will include items from the 4 separate fees that you are accustomed to paying: Registration, ISI, Activity, and Escrow. The 4 fees, in the past, have been separated as follows:
· Swimmer Registration fee:
Coaches Salaries, Lifeguards, Pool costs (water, lights, heat, chemicals, etc.), Administration, Equipment
· ISI fees:
Individual ISI swimmer registration, ISI team charter (also Activity Fee in the past), Coaching certification (also Activity Fee in the past), Official’s certifications (also Activity Fee in the past)
· Activity fee:
Website, Official’s fees, Awards, Banquet, Caps (latex), Shirts, Coaches apparel, Equipment
· Escrow fee:
As always, this fee is for Individual meets\races for each swimmer. This is the same revolving fee, with you recharging your balance when needed (after the initial payment). Any balance after the season can be refunded, or carried to the next season.

* Non-Resident fees are at a reduced rate of 25% higher than Resident rates (DTPD’s standing policy is 50%).
Please note that if you have registered with ISI as a Dundee Dolphin for the Fall 2009 season, your fees will be $60.00 less.
A payment plan is available for those wishing to utilize such. Three payments can be made utilizing Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. A one time processing fee of $10.00 per swimmer will be added to the first payment.
The initial payment at registration will be 1/3 of the fee plus the $10.00 processing fee. The 2nd payment will be processed May 7th. The final payment will be processed June 11th.
Your mandatory Escrow Account starts at $50.00, per swimmer, immediately after registration, for the start of the season. These funds will be applied for swimmer meet entry fees for any Invitational / Championship level meet.
There must be money in your Escrow Account to be able to swim in a sanctioned meet. The Dundee Dolphins website will show you your Escrow Account balance. If your account has a low balance you will need to add more funds to your account. Please be aware that if you don’t have needed available funds in your account, your child will not be allowed to swim the meet your are lacking funding for. There will not be a “float”.
When you sign your swimmer(s) up to compete at an Invitational Meet, you agree to pay for this Invitational, even if your swimmer ends up not swimming.
Once the team is accepted to attend the invitational, all monies that have been paid to the host team are not refundable. If the invitational is full and the team does not get in, your Escrow Account will not be altered.
At the end of the season, you will have the option to roll over any remaining balance to the next season, or a refund can be issued.
Registration (at the Senior Center)
· Registration for current Swim Team Members will be held on Tuesday, April 6th from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
· Registration for Resident potential Swim Team Members will be held on Tuesday, April 6th from 7:00pm-7:45pm.
· Registration for Non-resident potential Swim Team Members will be held on Tuesday, April 6th from 7:45pm-8:30pm.
This packet contains all the necessary information to register for the Spring\Summer 2010 season.
· Spring\Summer 2010 season information: is included on all these green papers. Please retain these papers for your records.
· Registration information: is all on the blue sheet. This must be completely filled out and signed, and turned in at registration.
· Parents and Swimmers Understanding: is contained on the pink sheet. This sheet must be read and signed by both the swimmers parent, and the swimmer (on their appropriate sides). This must be completely read, and signed, and turned in at registration
· If you need to register for ISI, the yellow sheet is for that purpose. This must be completely filled out and signed, and turned in at registration.
Swim Meets
· Both home and away meets will be held providing opportunities to swim in both long and short course sanctioned meets, including: Invitational’s, Conference, and any other qualifying level Championship meets.
· There will be 8-10 meets (including duals, tri’s & invitational’s), comprising of home and away meets.
· Program includes Regional’s, Sr. champs and Age Group champs.
· There will be No out of State meets during the regular season.
· In accordance with Swim Teams, there are volunteer hours that must be covered by parents. The Team will be scheduled parents for said volunteer shifts at Swim Meets, etc. If you can not make your scheduled time, please arrange for an exchange with other parents on the team.
· For qualifying swimmers Zones registration fee will be covered by the Park District.
· Zones, Sectionals, Mid-States & Nationals will be additional cost to qualifying swimmers including: Coach, Lifeguard, etc. These costs will be evenly split between qualifying swimmers wishing to participate.
· All transportation, lodging, etc. is each Swimmers families individual responsibility.
Swimmers will be guided into an appropriate division\program by our qualified coaching staff. Dundee Township Park District’s all encompassing Swimming program starts with our Learn-To-Swim program, moves to the Junior Dolphins, and finally to the three divisions of the Dundee Dolphins.
Potential new Swimmers looking at joining the Dundee Dolphins need to attend an evaluation. These will be held on Monday, April 5th at 5:00pm.
Dundee Dolphins Meet Schedule
Summer 2010 schedule is still being developed/finalized, and will be distributed as soon as it is official.
Alacarte
As a team we have many other choices that can also be utilized. These would come with an additional cost, and possible additional volunteer help. These items have been:
· Suits
· Caps (silicone)
· Pictures
· Socials (additional to the banquet)
· Equipment, large items such as Scoreboard improvements, etc.
Parents
· The success of this program depends on parent involvement. The existing Parent Booster Board will be replaced by committees for meets, fundraising and possibly a few others. All parents are expected to get involved in serving on committees, working meets, etc.
· Meet Director\Manpower committee: Parental support remains critical to the success of the overall swim team. This committee will be working closely with the Team Administrator running meets, and staffing events and peripheral activities.
· Wanting to help financially benefit each swimmer, we would like to have a fundraising committee. If you would like to help defer costs, please consider joining this group!
Staff
· Head Coach: We are currently in the process of hiring a new Head Coach. This position will be a certified Coach.
· Assistant Coach
· Jamie Kosel, Assistant Coach
· Tim Kopka, Aquatics Supervisor: Responsible for, and contact person for overall operation of Aquatic Facilities and Programs.
· Team Administrator: The point person for day to day operations of the team, this paid position will be coordinating the day to day administrative functions of the team. If you are interested in the position, please contact Tim.
General
· Dry Land (this is an ongoing evaluation piece that will be worked out with the new Coach)
· The website will be maintained for all of its purposes.
· At the end of each season we will evaluate the program and make any changes for future seasons.
